the song:
This
swing-beat, jazzy piece is my version of
the Cinderella story, in which you find
out what kind of advice a very modern,
street-smart, keep it real Fairy Godmother
would give to poor Cindy. The title says
it all for a song that should resonate
with many in your audience. Of course,
there's an inside joke here when you know
that my father, Jerry Livingston, wrote
the music for Disney's CINDERELLA. You
could call this song Cindy Rev. 2.0. Gender
point of view:
The
Fairy Godmother character can be sung by a
man or woman, I would say. After all, the
message of the song is to break out of
those little boxes. Awards: Second
place in the "Jazz" category of the
8th Billboard Song Contest (1998) Demo
singer: Dane Vannatter
