The ASCAPLUS Awards Program is not a songwriting competition, but intended to recognize work done by member writers of ASCAP who are in early or mid-career stage and, for more established writers, work done mainly outside of broadcast media. Awards are granted in Classical, Jazz and Popular Divisions - I applied in the latter - and are based on the recent performance history of one's catalog. As a non-performing songwriter, I am especially pleased at this acknowledgment that my songs are being covered by singers in a variety of clubs across the country and abroad. |
